The Lone Stone

strawberry patch park memorial april 24

Beyond the gate

lies a lone grave

a piece of a lost life

one that could not be saved

Family visits

broken pieces of the past

each speaks of times long ago

wanting each moment to life

The lone stone

carrying a star next to the name

a symbol of war

the world will never be the same

Broken pieces

family filled with grief

trying to build a new life

still in disbelief

Time passes

love never dies

there are moments of laughter

some happiness is a surprise

Broken pieces

the heart begins to heal

each piece glued together

more life to feel

The lone stone

merely now a place

as the departed spirit

now lives in the heart’s space

Father time: A Universe Explored

universe

Mother is the Earth

Father is time

universe is bursting

life is sublime

So many theories

of how it all began

particles of dust

creating many places to land

Infinite universe

filled with time and space

comets, meteorites, and planets

compete in a race

From the moon

man look so small

like tiny ants

climbing up a wall

Father time passes

as our imagination soars

creating stories

of how stars roar

Fifty years ago

man walked on the moon

Father time granted a gift

not a moment too soon

Constellations call

as man continues to explore

one day all questions will be answered

about the universe we adore

OctPoWriMo:Mother Earth

DocFile (4)

Mother Earth

so beautiful and alive

filled with mountains and valleys

adventures to survive

Her resources are abundant

trees upon the land

across great continents

anchored by sea and sand

Creatures upon the land

some used for food and cloth

others for observation

giving lessons without much thought

Rocks and plants

so many varieties to discover

forming many sculpures

for a nature lover

Nourishment of the spirit

for many cultures on the planet

each element has meaning

drawing the soul in like a magnet

Made from the dust

Mother Earth is our home

sustaining life

we are never alone

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Eyes or What do you see: The Clouds

Clouds 1

Looking at the clouds

such a beautiful sight

what do you see

looking into the light

Much depends

on your attitude

could be something pleasant

granting contentment and gratitude

Could be hungry

a cloud hamburger delight

or perhaps a garden vegetables

depending on your appetite

Perhaps the spiritual

seeing God in the clouds

praying inwardly

or perhaps out loud

Some people see animals

so perfectly made

each in its own habitat

or under tree shade

Some see the ocean

the waves coming in

the vastness of water

watching sea creatures swim

Perhaps there is a storm

thunder, lightening, and rain

so powerful

hard to stay sane

What our eyes see

is our perception of the world

always filled with wonder

as each adventure unfurls

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Blue: Oct 6

sea oat ms gulf coast may 9

Vastness of the ocean

blue water everywhere

a dolphin jumps up

taking in the air

The sky above

blue filled with puffy clouds

birds riding on the wind

singing voices loud

An interesting color

part of the rainbow

associated with coolness

after the wind and rain blow

Extending beauty

where this color appears

uplifting moods

giving good cheer

Bluegrass music is heard

as banjos play and guitars strum

dancing in the moonlight

cups filled with rum

Blue is

so many things

even a sad mood

can make the heart sing

High above the Earth

the color blue shows

brightening the universe

as the sunlight grows

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Oct 4 Cage – Pewter, Silver, or Gold

IMG_4994

Sitting on the patio

viewing the world through a tree

caged in by life’s circumstances

lonely as can be

In between the branches

a mirror suddenly appears

leaning in closely to see

before it disappears

Within the mirror

are visions of my life

failures in pewter

times of unbelievable strife

Looking closer

as my eyes fill with tears

are visions of me being carried

during the worst times of fear

The mirror changes

there is joy within the pain

a silver lining in the clouds

love in lessons gained

The mirror shows

that I have never been alone

always a loving guiding presence

one that is well known

The mirror shifts

to one last scene

a golden road to follow

loved ones waiting for me

Mirror no longer there

the loneliness is gone

knowing God is always with me

my soul is now strong

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Womb: October 3

old family cabin mississippi

Outside the old house

an old man stands

recanting his life

from where it began

Deep inside the womb

an universe to explore

safe from danger

no need to know more

Forced out

time to move ahead

a journey to continue

nothing to dread

Hardship comes

along with laughter and tears

danger lurks around the corner

there is some fear

Living life to the fullest

the old man does a life dance

living in the moment

giving this universe a chance

Through the years

the house grows old

now an old man

eternity takes hold

The spirit leaves

moving on to the next place

taking the love it gained

to the new place

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Changeling: Oct 2

clouds

The child glowed

its skin filled with light

all were amazed

at the beautiful sight

So different

a new species is born

with divine insight

for when the world is torn

Some say from angels

a fallen race

others say from God

a sign of His grace

A catastrophe is coming

a great flood

time to build an arc

with a blue print from above

The changeling warns

time to repent

a time to gather together

before judgement is sent

Rain begins

water to the mountain tops

the world is under water

no dams to stop

When the water recedes

the changeling’s family remains

the world is changed forever

innocence is regained

OctPoWriMo Prompts: Dark Night of the Soul – October 1

ms college bell tower march

As the bell tolled

my spirit sank

my soul mate is gone

I have death to thank

The night is long

the moon continues to shine

ghostly images in the trees

branches holding shroud twine

The rain begins to fall

more darkness in my soul

how will I survive

will my soul grow cold

Lightening now

thunder with the wind

making the bell toll

when will it end

Months have passed

there is a small light

dim at first

will it shine bright

My love speaks to me

signs that he is near

showing beauty in the seasons

there is nothing to fear

The time will come

we will be together again

love only grows stronger

light shining from within

The bell tolls

darkness begins to flee

by God’s grace

our entwined souls are free
