Paddling down the river
the channel is wide
following a succinct course
avoiding obstacles on the outside
Floating down the river
an alligator swims along
slowly observing me
deciding to go on
Farther down river
a blue heron on the bank
taking in the sun
sitting on a bucket that sank
Close to the dam now
can hear the water roar
churning through the gates
watching the birds soar
Fish jumping in the water
fishermen with wood poles
birds following them
dinner is the goal
Returning home now
the sun is going down
silence along the river
serenity abound
