The alligator sat silently
beginning to assay the people around
is this a place worth laying
is there danger abound
The sun is warm
there are pictures being taken
the alligator closes his eyes
not wanting to be awaken
Among the gawkers
there is a young man
shooting golf balls at the gator
close to the sand
Balls begin to hit the gator
he is not amused
eyes wide open
not waiting to be excused
Mouth open
the gator extends a warning
people scattering across the course
in the late morning
The gator slides into the water
swimming toward the sand
the young man sees him
funny how far he ran
The gator is safe
a new situation to assay
enjoying the cool safe water
on a summer day

When I saw your photo, the first thing I thought of was that alligator at the golf tournament! My husband is a golfer and watches it all the time, and they kept showing that alligator! haha! Great poem about it. ๐
Thanks for sharing. I imagine that at any golf tournament here the alligator would be the star of the show. It is so funny what television will broadcast at sport events. Thanks for reading.

Fun poem. Thanks.
Thank you.
Thank you!
You made me laugh, the first and only time I saw alligators on a golf course was in Mexico…it was cool. And I stayed well away from them.
Thanks for sharing. That alligator reappears every time it rains. He appears to love the golf course. Thanks for reading.
