Coastal birds resting
conversant with the sea
chatting with each other
language unknown to me
The ocean is an ancient world
with a spirit of its own
so many creatures
in a world only they know
The birds dive down
exploring the ocean wide
taking in their food
rising with the tide
The dolphins help the birds
corralling the fish
each has a feast
preparing other sea life’s dish
The waters are calm
the birds are taking a rest
calling to each other
conversant to the best
