I developed an interest
in the world surrounding me
searching to making things better
this is what I did see
A man was hungry
alone and cold
took him food and a coat
he did not look so old
An elderly person
lonely this day
we spent time talking
a smile gave way
I planted some herbs
basil, oregano, and thyme
nurtured the soil
placed them in the sunshine
My interest in the world
produced a dividend
things began to happen
it was not the end
The homeless man
shared what he had
gave to another
one not so well clad
The elderly woman
passed the smile on
visited other residents
now not so withdrawn
God blessed my garden
it is now bountiful
sharing the harvest
it is quite wonderful
