Helping the Hidden Poor

The automobile’s chrome bumper

sparkles brightly in the snow

a beacon for the home

that a few know

The year has been difficult

with a new hardship each day

losing it all

seems to be the way

People litter the landscape

does anyone care

walking by the car

seeing it bare

A secure home

a warm place to sleep

is it too much to ask

causing eyes to weep

A kind stranger

brings hot food and drink

there is hope

I think

In this holiday season

let us not forget the poor

lend a helping hand

perhaps open a door

Remembering that for

the grace of God go I

spreading a little hope

on this holiday nigh

  1. This is a somber poem, showing pictures from life’s other side. The poem gives pause. The audio is powerful.

    • Thank you. There are so many people in need that are often overlooked through every season of the year. Please stay safe through this winter storm that is coming. Have a wonderful day!
