A True Loving Mississippi Story

One child 2 years old is lost

without a shoe in the street

traffic flowing

not missing a beat

Seen by one

running to save a life

another stopped to help

amid all the strife

A third person stops

calling the police

child standing with safe haven

sighing with relief

Another person stops

as we search for the child’s home

wanting to know how to help

the child is not alone

The police come

helping to figure it out

the child is calm

feeling safe and does not pout

Siblings arrive

rejoicing running up the street

the child had accidentally gotten out

following a dog with bare feet

People helping each other

not a thought given to religion or race

helping an innocent child

experience love instead of hate

Nightmare: A Storm Within My Soul

Walking through a life storm

unable to see

figures move around me

what can they be

The cold is biting

an issue gnaws at my soul

is there a solution

will there be a goal

Fighting harder

the wind beats against my skin

it grows darker

will this nightmare end

The trees form a shape

it is more frightening than before

will I be enveloped

is there a door

Suddenly a door appears

sanctuary for this day

trudging through the snow to reach it

something in the way

Reaching the knob

hobbling inside

a solution to an issue

I have survived

Fabric: Hopes and Dreams

The fabric

of our hopes and dreams

are tied to our actions

and thoughts it seems

Walking through

the forest this day

there is a path

that appears to be tied this way

On one side is the trees

standing tall and proud

capturing the sun

 the wind whistling loud

Farther down

firmly rooted in the soil

are bushes and plants

each with essential oils

All must be in harmony

for the system to live

no one thing dominates

all must give

Such are our thoughts and actions

working together to achieve a goal

the only way to accomplish it

is to live in harmony with the soul

Inkling: The Clouds

Clouds 1

The clouds surround me

an inkling of what is to come

in majestic blue surroundings

we are one

Floating through the sky

observing the world below

there are mountains and valleys

life is easy and slow

Further we stretch

going across the land

gathering up moisture

turning into a rain band

Nourishing the trees

giving life before the desert sun

wildlife scurries to follow us

drinking water before we are done

Stretching further

becoming one with the arctic ice

now riding on the wind

it feels quite nice

Now we are a cloud

time to start the cycle again

my soul is refreshed

living in the wind

Endless rain poses dangerous conditions…

Great information. Thanks for sharing.

About 10 or so years ago, Tennessee, Georgia, and many other Southern states were in the middle of the worse drought in years. The area lakes were dangerously low. We didn’t have to ration water at my location, but we were told not to wash our cars and to avoid other large water use activities. Everything seemed so dry and crunchy that we thought the drought-like conditions would never end.

Until the last couple of years. Sudden rain and thunderstorms are almost a daily occurrence. The ground stays drenched. We have a house full of ants that have escaped to the surface because their homes have been flooded. Groundhogs, chipmunks, and yes even snakes are being displaced from their homes. We’ve had straight line wind in Cookeville that caused record breaking damage and loss. Fortunately, during the recent straight-line wind storms (not tornadoes) no one was seriously injured. Which was a…

Kudzu in the Mountains

Kudzu in the mountains

an illusion to me

appearing like a river

down the crevice to see

High in the mountains

on this fall morn

beautiful in the sun

heavy with dew adorn

As the sun rises

thanking God for his grace

my soul is nourished

a smile on my face

Wishing everyone love

on this wonderful day anew

hoping that your life

is filled with adventures new

Today, we are going to create what is called a “Fibonacci Poetry.” In clearer or a shorter term, it’s called “Fibs.” With Fibs, we join poetry and numbers.

From the math geeks point of view, it’s where math and poetry collide. If you want to read more information on this unique form of poetry, look here… Fun With Fibs 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8,now granted the slang for fibs is to tell a lie or string of lies. But that’s not what we have here, do we?

The Fibonacci sequence works like this. “The number of syllables in…
