The Game – Locust vs. Frog

I’m bored

said the locust to the frog

life is short

time to lift the fog

A simple game

no time to rest

a game of wits

the ultimate test

The frog said nothing

staring into the sky

too comfortable to move

that is no lie

The locust began

popping the frog’s face

game has begun

a silent race

No response

the locust did it again

the frog sat silently

not engaging this friend

One more attempt

locust flitted his wings

then in a loud voice

he began to sing

The frog remained silent

then with the swish of his tongue

the locust was digested

the frog had won

Playing a game with an enemy

is never a good plan

the locust learned the hard way

the frog’s stomach is not a pleasant place to land

The frog sat content

croaked loudly I have won

in a game of wits

I am second to none

  1. Do you ever wake up with Bullfrogs on your mind? Today I find, I do, thanks to you.

    Fun poem, Piper!

    • Thank you. I hear them sometimes in the quiet of the early morning singing the songs of their people. Interesting sounds to accompany the birds. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
