An Autumn Transition

A misty vapor

comes across the land

the first signs of fall

crickets and frogs lead the band

A wrinkled leaf

floats in the mist

birds migrating south

a flippant song on their lips

Such beauty

as the leaves begin to turn

showing much color

makes the heart yearn

Hearty abundance

covers the landscape

squirrels gather acorns

as the birds escape

Colorful leaves gathered

on a mantle to be admired

others raked into a pile

thrown onto a bonfire

A watery mist

snow begins to fall

steep drops in temperatures

a hibernation call

The days grow cold

there is little light

wrapped up in a blanket

meditating on a peaceful night
