Standing on the banks
with a notable blue cap
the blue heron rests
looking for a place to nap
Crystal blue water
gently rocking waves
humming a lullaby
the heron is not afraid
All around
there is a gentle breeze
providing coolness
sleep will come with ease
The blue heron sleeps
in the morning sun
resting comfortably
till time for work to be done
Mid afternoon
returning to his perch
limb sticking out
it may be a birch
Observing the world
tranquil and serene
the notable heron is at home
he is the king
