The cormorant lands on the pole
frantically searching for its mate
in the afternoon
late for his date
Calling loudly
distress in his voice
vibrating across the water
his intercom of choice
The hours pass
he is diligently waiting
crooning for her
he is frantically anticipating
The female cormorant arrives
answering his call
they begin the courting dance
having a ball
Hours spent
courting without rest
diving for food
gathering items for a nest
The sun sets
the cormorants fly away
together as a couple
soon a family will be on the way
