The woodpecker bends
his beautiful red head
percussively pecking at the wood
happy with nothing to dread
The wind is blowing
other birds join in the tune
a joyful sound
comforting at noon
It is lunch time
at the feeder buffet
birds and squirrels
enjoying the day
Aerial battles ensue
as blue birds see a house
searching for a place to nest
each trying to joust
The woodpecker is content
pecking the day away
many little bugs for food
his wings begin to sway
Returning to his nest
surveying the world around
content with his life
there is peace abound
