Resting beneath the tree

I heard a faint sound from Heaven

beautiful but sure

making my soul more leaven

 

Listening carefully

the sound began in the trees

whispering softly

while on my knees

 

While in prayer

I heard from above

birds singing  songs

filled with love

 

Then came a faint chirp

cicadas across the land

blending in nicely

with this wonderful band

 

A leaf drops

speaking about life

all things come in time

no matter what the strife

 

Some squirrels now

climbing up the limbs

joining the harmony

jumping on branches slim

 

The music ends

time to rejoin the day

a song in my soul

continuing to play
