In the distance
the upbeat music played
adding to the picturesque scenery
as the wind swayed
Alone in my thoughts
meditating on a recent windfall
resulting from a solemn event
courtesy of excessive rainfall
Friends entreated me to be wise
this gift could be a trap
evil in disguise
depending on how unwrapped
Music soothing my soul
as inspiration wanes thin
final decision made
ready to see the end
Using the windfall
to enhance life for others
making the gift a refuge
to ease the pain of those who suffer
Joining the others
soul feels the need to dance
joy returns
as my life is enhanced
