Shivering in the cold
on this icy day
hearing a cryptic sound
coming my way
Is it an animal
or the wind
splitting hairs over the crunching ice
where the water is thin
Snow is blowing
catching a quick glimpse
seeing the source of the sound
it’s a small imp
Changing direction
to avoid this devil
stumbling on the ice
stream is ground level
Skating on the ice
speeding down the falls
doing some unique turns
reveling in it all
One last look
at the breathtaking scenery
beautiful snow and ice
contrast to the summer greenery
Back in the cabin
by a cozy fire
wrapped in a blanket
time to retire
