The mongrel sits beside me
taking in the beauty of life
projecting a prodigious amount of strength
having begun with strife
Jumping into the river
splashing around in the sun
with a seminal bark
inviting me to join in the fun
Taking the plunge
the water is cold
grabbing at the ripples
it never gets old
Splashing around
taking a brief swim
the coldness envelops me
numbing my lower limbs
Climbing up the rocks
the sun warms my soul
relaxing in the moment
thinking of taking a stroll
So peaceful
at the water’s edge
sounds of wildlife
speaking to me on this ledge
Getting up to leave
the mongrel leads the way
our souls are at peace
on this beautiful day
