A warning came

as the winds began to blow

snow began falling

sleet adding to the show

On the fringe

was a blast of light

a cable was down

electricity causing a dazzling sight

The snow and wind continue

howling through the trees

causing destruction

everything beginning to freeze

Up on the rooftops

from chimneys comes the smoke

a challenge to stay warm

more wood added to stoke

Fear begins to form

as the dark storm continues

will we be alright

gazing out the window

Finally at first light

a ravishing scene

the storm has left

nature is serene

Another winter day

now the landscape sleeps

resting until spring

when life again begins to peep

Winter brings darkness

we look forward to the light

spring is now one day closer

we have survived the night
