Serene: Living on the Edge of the Day

sun on river mountain 1

In the morning light

living on the edge of the day

mountains of possibilities

seeking serenity along the way

A small flower

blowing seeds in the wind

brushing away all issues

living life till the end

A deer runs by

spreading leaves in its path

enjoying the rush of wind

there is no wrath

In the river

geese engage in a show

splashing around gaggling

as if there are secrets to know

Continuing on

the river curves around

listening carefully

there is serenity in the sound

The journey continues

living in the moment each day

life is a universe unto itself

with love and laughter along the way

    • Hi. Thank you for reading my poems. My husband passed away in December and the grief process has dampened my inspiration. I am hoping to begin writing on a more regular basis. Have a wonderful day.

  1. Awesome. I’m so sorry for the loss of your husband…I can only imagine the pain and loudness of his empty place. Keeping you in my heart and prayers.

      • I’m happy to pray for you–sometimes I feel unexplainable empathy, even though I’ve not had the same experience as someone else. One thing I often say, and I don’t know how helpful it is–but, perhaps in some way you can be grateful for those feelings of loss and grief–they are evidence of love’s memories, which people like myself don’t have. I hope I’ve said all this in a way that helps, rather than hurting. ❤
