Thwart: Marina Breakfast

coastal bird may 9

Coastal birdย

standing on the ledge

eyeing restaurant food

living on the edge

People eating on the patio

enjoying a marina view

a warm breeze

the sun is new

The bird awaits

the dropping of a crumb

there is nothing to thwart him

his feet are getting numb

Patience pays off

the people move on

a feast before him

there is even a prawn

First the bread

then a dip of wine

a wonderful feast

fine way to dine

The boats come in

time to move on

living in the moment

from dust until dawn

  1. The life of the coastal bird… You captured it so well in your poem! I felt like I was there. Great use of the prompt, too! Enjoyed this so much! ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. haha! This was funny. It reminds me of watching a bird eating leftover food from plates left on the table of an outdoor patio at a restaurant. ๐Ÿ™‚
