The tree sits quietly
being constant in the land
branches representing life
in the environmental band
Each branch is an emotion
active through the years
the trunk is steady
listening with nature’s ears
One branch is fear
when the storms come
rain, snow, and ice
cause damage when done
Another branch is joy
when it is warm and inviting
this is a time of plenty
the journey is exciting
Another branch is sadness
when things begin to die
it takes much energy
using the leaves to cry
In the end
the tree perseveres
living each moment
more joy than tears
