The colorful leaves dominated the landscape
with awe inspiring beauty
taking my breath away
while serving multiple duties
There is nourishment of leaves
for the land
deteriorating and blending
crumbling in my hand
There is provision
materials for a nest
creating a warm place
for the wildlife’s rest
A reminder winter is coming
wildlife hunting for food
bountiful nuts and berries
makes for a festive mood
The creek slows
there are crystals of ice
coolness in the morning
clean water tastes nice
Meditation over
enjoying the sounds of the land
taking in the wonder
of autumns last grand stand
