The ocean is beautiful

filled with natural treasures

a grainy material embedded in an oyster

fills the treasure chest ledger

 

A wonderful pearl is formed

within the oyster’s body

perfect in form

never shoddy

 

The pearl is a hard stone

used in necklaces and rings

cultured and polished

a beautiful site to be seen

 

The pearl has meaning

innocence and purity

often used in weddings

vows given with sincerity

 

Such a simple thing

from a sea creature

nourishment for the soul

another one of life’s features
