A Volcanic Adventure

Standing atop the volcano

in the midst of an impulsive adventure

I became flummoxed and shrieked

at the madness of this venture

Smoke escapes from the crater

precipitating some lava

the heat so intense

affecting my vena cava

Racing to the valley

wishing that I could fly

molten lava flowing down the mountain

fearing it is time to die

Seeing a river

jumping from a rope

the water is still cool

my only hope

Running through the water

seeing a plane

last tourist leaving

I leaped aboard attempting to maintain

In the air

observing water mixed with fire

breathing fresh air

fulfilling a life desire

Admiring nature’s fury

free flowing without resistance

powerful with a certain beauty

best viewed from a distance

New morning arrives

ocean waves glimmer in the sun

now content with a slow venture

sipping orange juice and rum

What an adventure! A fearless flight.

Wonderful poem to read with my morning orange juice, Debbie.
