Leaping off the mountain
into the ramshackle atmosphere
joining my colleague
without fear
Floating along
enjoying the view
what happened next
was something new
Seeing some birds
joining the pack
bragging that I was one of them
tapping one on the back
The bird was startled
losing some altitude
took some minutes to recover
then came back with an attitude
Attacking me
calling all his friends
I quickly began
to try to make amends
Poetic justice in the moment
as the wind died down
I began to drop
having a nervous breakdown
Falling faster
the wind picked up again
suddenly rising to safety
relief and a grin
Sliding onto the ground
watching the birds disappear
never again bragging
hindsight is clear

I like this! How nice to be soaring with the birds, but I’ll bet next time he won’t tap one on the back again. haha!:)
Thank you. It would be fun. I agree he will not tap a bird again. Thanks for reading.

Great poem! I really enjoy it when poems tell a story, and yours had me chuckling. Birds can be quite the teachers.
