Standing beside the canoe

watching the fog begin to lift

the water is so still

such a wonderful gift

Paddling along the river

fish beginning to jump

not paying attention

hit a wood drift bump

Clear skies surround me

taking a deep breath

cool air contains me

relaxation at inner depth

Paddling along

hearing a fight

so much anger

giving me a fright

Continuing on

the danger has passed

laughter surrounds me

children playing on a raft

Pulling into a cove

to eat and rest

the sun warms me

this time is the best

Getting up

paddling home

a comforting journey

enjoying some time alone
