Surveying the moon
high in the morning sky
a mysterious projection
wonder for my eye
Holding a steady pattern
with phases and turns
what is the purpose
can we discern
We are dependent
on this moon above
it controls the tides
helps the planet we love
The tides control our heat
with the force of circulating winds
helps the Earth’s axis
tilting end to end
A wonderful purpose
for a heavenly body to hold
helping life to exist
understated and bold
Looking into the sky
seeing it day and night
quiet in the day
in the night shining bright
Meditation over
grateful for the sight
the moon is setting
till the coming of the night
