Level with the trees
a fire in the sky
ashen smoke surrounds
the land is dry
Warning is sounded
by the wildlife
animals and birds scurry for cover
amid the strife
In the midst of the wave
with the heat intense
a certain beauty in the chaos
filled with bliss
Rain comes
cleanses the air
the ashen smoke retreats
hiding the sun’s glare
Life reemerges
the sky is clear
air crisp and clean
safe for the gentle deer
Trees sway
dancing in the cool wind
the life cycle continues
the journey never ends
