As an outsider

it’s easy to say no

walking away from the mainstream

choosing to grow

In the beginning

rallying with the troops

wanting to fit in

willing to be duped

So much sadness

anger and fear

love was conditional

nothing was dear

Having reached a breaking point

choosing to walk away

scary at first

but the sun rose that day

Time passed

the pieces put back together

finding strength in the journey

no need for a tether

Love surrounds me

freedom to ride the wind

joy in every experience

the adventure will never end
