Rapids on the River

Roaming by the river

watching the rapids flow

the water is angry

on fire with the sun’s glow

Anguish fills my spirit

it’s not fair

loss threatens to overcome

a mighty dare

Stepping on some rocks

powerful rapids knock me down

water crashes around me

fearful I may drown

Fighting the urge

to give in

what is the purpose

meaning of life is thin

Swept down stream

having a vision

small things helping others

time to make a decision

Grabbing a limb

fighting to get to shore

slowly making progress

with each rapids roar

On the banks

safe at last

cleansed by the water

anxiety is past

A gift from the river

a few big fish

cooking on an open fire

my favorite dish

A new morning comes

colorful sun rise

the river is calm

grateful to be alive
