Looking into his eyes

in this final moment of life

holding hands

trying to be a strong wife

Our spirits bound

so difficult to let go

knowing that I must

so that he can grow

With all my strength

I whisper it’s okay

meet me in Heaven

on another day

After he slipped away

filled with tears and feeling numb

leaving the hospital

wondering if to grief I would succumb

Doing for him

what he would have done for me

letting his spirit fly

when remembering is not a guarantee

Walking alone

is faith real

or is love

only something that we feel

Time will tell

when I enter the pearly gates

will he be there

all I can do is wait
