A Midnight Dance

As the wind whispers

your name in the air

come close to me

with great care

Love and beauty

capture my soul

becoming one with your spirit

as in days of old

Feeling your spirit

within my heart

swaying to the music

we are never apart

Dancing at midnight

shadows in the moon

spirits joined together

separated too soon

Sun rises

dawn of a new day

swaying to the music

love is never far away

The Spirit of the Heart

The zenith of existence

is in the heart

joy of the spirit

love which does not part

Even when broken

things are hard

a healing process occurs

leaving a scar

Do I become bitter

cower in fear

become a slave

to whatever comes near

Do I choose

freedom to love again

power to experience joy

make new friends

Heart speaks to spirit

charging ahead

rising from what has been lost

wonder instead of dread

Out of the ashes

joy begins to arise

living life to the fullest

giving love that never dies

A Spirit House Cleaning

Riding a broom

around my home

sliding around the corners

starting the new year alone

Smoothly landing

cleaning each room

sweeping out all negative things

anything that threatened doom

Out the door

went the despair

no more crying

this year a life to repair

Next out the door

went everything bitter

a new year now

sun reflecting ice like glitter

Finally out the door

went the anger and fear

time to release it all

love is near

Sun shines brightly

my spirit is cleaned

winter birds sing in joy

life has been redeemed

Passionate Storm

In the storm there is a melody

encapsulating my heart

consecutively woven

a brilliant piece of art

Raging feelings

loneliness with each lightening strike

fighting for suvival

with all my might

Why can’t I see you

or feel your presence

voice as loud as thunder

you are not a rememberance

Becoming part of the rain

flying in the wind

dropping into the ocean

yearning to send

Living each moment

feeling the pain

searching for you

hoping to gain

Reassurance comes

in the form of a rainbow

getting closer

time is slow

Meditation over

never alone

you are always with me

my spirit has grown

An Organ Journey

The scene is grisly

blood where the corpse lays

yet a certain beauty appears

as the light begins to play

On this cold night

with snow on the ground

the wind is eerie

making a whistling sound

The corpse is

placed on the table

the heart is removed

and given a label

Before being stored

the heart gives a beat

flying through the air

down the street

Through the sky

feeling the need

there is a calling

answering with great speed

On another table

a dead heart is removed

the beating heart placed

dancing to the groove

Death in one place

loved ones filled with grief

another place has life

prayers of relief

A spooky beauty to it all

we are all related

connected in life and death

love is inflated

Sending Love to Heaven

Cascading from the falls

my love flows through the rapids

rushing to meet you

with ballads

Time passes

since that sudden wind

took you away

putting my heart into a spin

Love traveling farther

absorbed by the clouds

becoming thunder

hugs and kisses are loud

Into the river of life

my love flows

splashing on your face

as memories arose

Sending love back

in the form of rainfall

dancing around

absorbing it all

Our spirits are joined

death does not part

together for eternity

love in our hearts

A Silhouette Dance

In a conglomerate of ice

impervious to the cold

the flowers sit

a special story to be told

A couple dances

in a moonlight silhouette

perfect concinnity in love

a classic vignette

Separated between time and space

each has left a flower

in preparation

for the happy hour

Eternity awaits

as they continune the dance

flowers waiting in the ice

to celebrate a heavenly romance

The Soul’s Cliff

The search for happiness

a disappointment indeed

so many meaningless things

nothing for my soul to feed

On the edge of this cliff

everything in life in amiss

about to take a plunge

into the abyss

Before bidding adieu

there is a vision

causing me to pause

before making a decision

All of the sudden

there are visions of life

of love and laughter

amid the strife

Moments of meditation

when I am one with the world

moments of peace

when creativity unfurled

Fire and water joining

filled with such passion

seeing love of my mate

emotions in action

Realizing now

the anguish will pass

only a moment in time

pain will not last

Turning around

walking away

feeling blessed

the world is no longer gray

Fire and water meeting

symbols of the soul

life filled with ups and downs

continuing as the journey unfolds

A July Memory

One of my favorite poems written by my husband. Difficult to believe it has been 19 months since his passing. Along with his faith, he also had a wonderful sense of humor.

Isaiah 46:4
New Living Translation (NLT)

4 I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you

It’s wrinkled now more than before
It hurts when I have to bend,
It still looks much the way it did
But like some long lost, old friend,

It’s not that I would throw it out
Or even change it if I could,
It’s just that so much time has come and gone
It’s not running as it should,

A wrinkle here, a wrinkle there
Some poundage added on,
The vision’s getting fuzzy
And the hair is almost gone,

The teeth are doing alright, I think
I floss and brush them every day,
Then I put them in that little glass
And promptly put them out of the way,

Then there are those pills to help it run
So many I lose track,
When I go away on a trip
They fill up a large backpack,

But there’s nothing much that we can do
Things are just what they are,
We can either sit here crying in our beer
Or go on and open up the bar,

Because time is a cruel pacesetter
It marches to its own beat,
I only hope there’s still some Epsom salts
So I can soak my tired old feet.

Father,

Thank You for always being near, for always caring for us, and for always loving us.

A Yellow Flower Ribbon

Tying a yellow ribbon

around an old oak tree

sending a message to Heaven

you are still the one for me

Sending you hugs and kisses

from my heart to yours

living each moment

singing like a bird

Feeling you in the wind

your smile in the sun shine

thankful for each day

that you are mine

See all the yellow ribbons

that are being sent in my heart

loving you forever

knowing we will never part

Happy Valentine’s Day!
