Musing of the Soul

Meditating on the cliff

musing on the soul

of the things good and bad

young and old

Strange excrescence on the heart

appear after mean words

some accidental

depending on how it was heard

Danger lies

if the heart retreats

a disease with no cure

soul burns in the heat

Then rain comes

putting out the fire

forgiveness in the heart

if there is a desire

Kind words are spoken

there is a strong heart beat

soul is healing

but still incomplete

Each day is a challenge

choosing love or hate

the excrescence can grow larger

or with love abate

Meditation over

as the rain bathes my face

soul is lighter

heart filled with grace

A Fireside Evening

Sitting in a chair

wrapped in a throw

drinking hot chocolate

listening as rain turns to snow

Fire crackling

reading a book

calm and comforting

in my nook

Poetry expressing feelings

every high and low

emotions are volatile

creating a flow

Feeling calm

comfortable in my space

alone in my thoughts

surrounded by grace

Crackling fire

sounds of snowfall

entering a sweet dream

able to fly through it all

Meditation over

now in a deep sleep

calm and serene

my soul to keep

The Raindrop

In the circle

a raindrop falls

entering into the earthly realm

a small light to all

Living through the depression

then a world war

an example of resilence

a mentor

The raindrop spreads

making an impact on all

participating in history

determined not to fall

A man walks on the moon

expanding the universe

crisis on this planet

the raindrop continues to traverse

A passing occurs

the raindrop perseveres

faith shaken

grace appears

The incandescent raindrop

returns to the clouds

joining others that are loved

the priviledge of knowing you was ours

A July Memory

One of my favorite poems written by my husband. Difficult to believe it has been 19 months since his passing. Along with his faith, he also had a wonderful sense of humor.

Isaiah 46:4
New Living Translation (NLT)

4 I will be your God throughout your lifetime—
until your hair is white with age.
I made you, and I will care for you.
I will carry you along and save you

It’s wrinkled now more than before
It hurts when I have to bend,
It still looks much the way it did
But like some long lost, old friend,

It’s not that I would throw it out
Or even change it if I could,
It’s just that so much time has come and gone
It’s not running as it should,

A wrinkle here, a wrinkle there
Some poundage added on,
The vision’s getting fuzzy
And the hair is almost gone,

The teeth are doing alright, I think
I floss and brush them every day,
Then I put them in that little glass
And promptly put them out of the way,

Then there are those pills to help it run
So many I lose track,
When I go away on a trip
They fill up a large backpack,

But there’s nothing much that we can do
Things are just what they are,
We can either sit here crying in our beer
Or go on and open up the bar,

Because time is a cruel pacesetter
It marches to its own beat,
I only hope there’s still some Epsom salts
So I can soak my tired old feet.

Coping with Impossible Situations

This is a reblog my post that I wrote on August 29, 2017. Prayers for all and have a wonderful day!

Clouds 1

Storms come through

excessive wind and rain

impossible conditions

coming in like a train

Some people are good

ready to lend a helping hand

others are evil

taking advantage of the storm’s band

Impossible situations

difficult decisions to make

critics abound

praying for God’s grace

Finally it happens

a rash of good deeds

showing love and kindness

everyone taking the lead

Prayers are answered

hope is spread

food, clothing, and shelter

God is not dead

Impossible situations

God made us for these

faith, hope, and love

for these we are lead

Impossible situations

healing has begun

restoring communities

one by one

Hope: Antidote for Difficult Times

sun on river mountain 1

Panic spreads

throughout the land

a ravaging disease

fear of touching a hand

Fear is vicious

taking away people’s power

contagious darkness spreading

despair grows by the hour

The sun rises

it is a new day

an antidote grows

light is on the way

Rising out of the fear

through the light shines hope

love fights the fear

we learn to cope

Time passes

the disease appears to have no end

loving each other

we rely on friends

Hope is the antidote

causing the fear to bend

darkness is wiped out

Light wins in the end

A Yellow Flower Ribbon

Tying a yellow ribbon

around an old oak tree

sending a message to Heaven

you are still the one for me

Sending you hugs and kisses

from my heart to yours

living each moment

singing like a bird

Feeling you in the wind

your smile in the sun shine

thankful for each day

that you are mine

See all the yellow ribbons

that are being sent in my heart

loving you forever

knowing we will never part

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Healed: Challenge – Triumphant – Thursday

Psalm 30:2 New International Version (NIV)

Lord my God, I called to you for help,
and you healed me.

Sitting high upon the perch

calling out to the Lord

the loss is great

I can’t sing a chord

Climbing higher

looking to the clouds

is my love lost

chirping really loud

The Lord spoke to me

 love is not lost

your mate is with me

I paid the cost

During this time of turmoil

begin singing again

do unto others

you will be reunited with your friend

Till that time

I have given you a task

spread kindness and love

do as I ask

Healed in that moment

the bird began to sing

tales of redemption

taking away death’s sting

Never again

would there be such despair

God’s love healed him

the heart had been repaired

Comfort: Voices From Beyond

I heard your voice today

from Heaven so far away

comforting me still

as my faith begins to sway

Tears flowing

down my cheeks

missing you

all these weeks

A kind word

gift of a book

of words I need to hear

smile with your look

Knowing you

are not far away

sending a message of love

faith has a way

Time will pass

love will never die

you are always with me

love does not lie

Praying for you everyday

God’s love carries me through

our separation is temporary

love death can never undo
