The moon explained to the stars
relationships are complicated
take mine with the Earth
for a long time each of us patiently waited
Our creator took into account
portion and size
available atmosphere
reduction in mass so not to capsize
In conjunction with gravity
the Earth holds me in orbit
accepting me into the family
like a floret
I have the power
to control the tides
provide safe navigation
for where creatures in the ocean reside
Time is another issue
in reproduction and migration
birds and animals depend on me
for communication
Still the Earth and I have a tug of war
at times we appear to move apart
but then we come together
for we are joined at the heart
