Running along the path
there appears to be no escape
companion is rambling
distracting from the landscape
The path is long
hangry as I run
enclosed in a mental cage
no longer having fun
Running faster
companion catching up
seeing a food station
anxiety about to letup
Grabbing a sandwich
and a drink
sitting down for a second
trying to think
Companion still
getting on my nerves
looking ahead
to where the path swerves
Reaching the curve
companion still talking
throwing him in the water
and then continue walking
Never fear
he knows how to swim
knows me well
accustomed to acts on a whim
Companion catches up
he enjoyed the race
the water is cool and relaxing
it was worth the chase

What a fun running session. I love the prankish frivolity in this one. Well done.
Thank you. It was fun to write. Have a wonderful day!
It sounds like the speaker of your poem is a somewhat dangerous person to run with. XD
I agree. There probably are safer people to run with. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
