The day is sweltering

as I approach the creek

being parsimonious with water

appreciative and meek

First wading to the knees

then splashing water on my face

a feeling of exhileration

coolness to embrace

Now fully in the creek

surfing the rapids

feels so great

quickly adapted

The sun sets

feeling revived

embracing the coolness

happy to be alive
