The juicy rumor spread
without a filter
the naughty behavior of some
exaggerated by the transmitter
The rumor took on a life
growing on its own
soon no one in the village
could be left alone
One fateful night
lightening struck from the aura
people took to the streets
screaming in horror
The town disappeared
truth difficult to handle
no one did anything
the rumor was the vandal
High in a moutain
a small child asked
how did a rumor destroy the town
did it wear a mask
The people had an epiphany
they were the cause
spreading a rumor
making many faux pas
The town was rebuilt
this time living in the light
admiring the beautiful color
letting rumors die in the night
