A young man
living in fright
kidnapped from his home
in the middle of the night
Vilified by his captors
surrounded by the outdoors and sheep
turning to God
praying as he weeped
Having a vision
snorting as he awoke
walking two hundred miles
escaping on a boat
Becoming a priest
he returned to Ireland
using Irish customs
to convert the homeland
Publicly acclaimed a saint
Patrick’s death is celebrated this day
his love for Ireland
celebrated in many exciting ways
A man of courage
a life well lived
filled with many talents
much to give
Happy St. Patrick’s Day
toasting with a cold brew
pulling up a four leaf clover
from the morning dew
