Piper’s Southern Style – A Weekly Newsletter

Welcome to the first edition of Piper’s Southern Style. This newsletter will be posted weekly with all things Southern. Some things that may be included will be fun trivia, a poem or story, points of interest in Mississippi , my latest YouTube video and a few miscellaneous items. This newsletter is meant to be light and reminiscent of articles long ago found in Sunday newspapers. Please relax and enjoy.

It’s Memorial Day which is a time of remembrance for those who lost their lives in conflict. May we never forget their sacrifice.

For many people the end of May is the unofficial beginning of summer. The campgrounds will be full and there will be ample backyard barbecues. Here is a list of common foods that are served at these barbecues:

  1. Hamburgers – meat between a bun with lettuce, tomato, mustard, and pickle relish brings back sweet memories
  2. Hot Dogs – an easy summer favorite
  3. Potato Salad – homemade is the best
  4. Baked Beans
  5. Corn on the Cob
  6. Cake and /or ice cream

Summer is coming and there is much activity in the warm months ahead. I hope that you enjoy this holiday weekend and are blessed with friends and family.

I have started a YouTube channel as a video diary of my life. Each week I will post a video of an adventure in my journey through life. Please join me in this new adventure.

This week’s video features a poem and story for Memorial Day.

Thank you for reading my newsletter this week. Have a wonderful day!

  1. Thanks for the remembrance of Memorial Day.

I like your new feature, and enjoyed the walk through the park as you were telling the story. I did subscribe to your YouTube channel. 🙂
