The old tree lives along
the banks of a dried river bed
now acting as a party line
reporting where wildlife treads
It’s roots reach a bush
giving a weather report
a spring frost is coming
sending nutrients for support
The wind blows
under the tree is a nest
protecting newborn animals
a comfortable place to rest
The final frost
covers tree branches
sparkling in the sun
the dew dances
As the sun shines
the streams melt and flow
winter is over
time for spring to glow
The tree spreads the word
spring is here
time to awaken
the coast is clear

What a fabulous picture and poem Debbie. Thanks for joining in.
Thank you. That tree is in a campsite on the Natchez Trace in a ghost town that was wiped out by I think an epidemic in the 1800s. Thanks for reading. My pleasure. Such fun word prompts. Have a wonderful day!
You too.
