Kayaking on the river

on this beautiful day

fed by heavy rains

navigating a new way

Riding the rapids

there is constant change

a new tributary has formed

the rhythm is strange

Caught in a current

going quite fast

a waterfall is coming

nature expressing wrath

Refusing to surrender

fighting to get to shore

breathing heavily

grasping at the oar

All is for naught

over the fall I go

flying for a brief moment

scenery is a show

Landing hard

pulled to the shore

everything is intact

fear is no more

Realizing that I am safe

with an epic story to tell

laughing at the moment

grateful to be well
