Entering the cemetery
on this day each year
rain is drizzling
joining his tears
In his hand are flowers
candy wrapped with care
a card with filled with sweet hearts
flapping in the air
Bending down
he gives the grave a kiss
memories flood him
he began to reminisce
On the street
he only saw her face
an angel in the crowd
heart began to race
A steamy romance
then marriage and kids
adventures filled with excitement
a life well lived
A smile crosses his face
knowing they will meet again
Happy Valentine’s Day my love
the veil is beginning to thin

What a beautiful poem Debbie
Thank you. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Thanks 🩷
Aww, this is poignantly sad and yet so preciously sweet as well. A truly beautiful poem, well done.
Thank you. There is a beauty in the hearts of elderly people remembering their true loves on this day. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
I agree. I’m worked for shelter housing for the elderly. It was always so heartwarming hearing the men and women tell me about their past soulmates. They show just how special love can and should be don’t they.
Lovely Debbie.
Thank you. Happy Valentine’s Day!
🙂 and you
