Working hard
in an attempt to stay mobile
the years taking a toll on him
an effort that was noble
Before the illness
able to easily run and walk
gardening and chasing grandchildren
always willing to talk
Now in a chair
loving fish
imagining swimming with them
avoiding being a lunch dish
Time shrinks
love of his life gone
watching the colors of the sunset
walking into Heaven at dawn
