14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. 15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
I got on the bus
on a cold winter night
taking food to the homeless
a heartbreaking site
Sleeping on a park bench
he appeared tired and worn
newspapers stuffed in a coat
a scarf that is torn
Waking him up from slumber
offering some hot soup
tears in his eyes
a moment to recoup
Having not eaten in days
stomach warmed with several bowls
lost in the darkness
his story unfolds
Unfortunate events
losing sense of worth
despair and hopelessness
began to unearth
Giving information about shelters
places near to this land
the man shook his head
saying no to a helping hand
Still in the darkness
he thanked us for the glimpse of light
pondering upon the day
when he leaves the night
Father,
Please place your loving hands upon all those who are lost in the dark. Please lead them into the Light.
