Through the old church yard
stones with stories to tell
of times of old
when things did no go well
Courage to continue on
to fight for beliefs that are true
live for those who sacrificed their life
for the red, white, and blue
Tears flow
as flags are placed
prayers are said
asking for grace
A lone bugle player stands in the yard
music blowing in the wind
saluting those who lay silent
a prayer for all war to end

You are gone but not forgotten. Love to you always – John (my father), Bob (my uncle) , Joe (my uncle), Troy (my uncle) , and all others who have fought for their beliefs – May your spirits continue to ride the wind.

Beautiful poem. Memorial day isn’t a day to cook out, it is a day of remembrance for those who paid the ultimate price so we can enjoy our freedom.
