Standing in a quagmire
sniffing chemicals in the air
a kettle filled with black water
cameras film the despair
Longing for the forest
of streams that are crystal clear
wildlife roaming in the trees
of a life so dear
Warning signs of the toxins
erasure of common sense
progress all around
the air is dense
A ray of hope
a picture of the brain
thinking of what is being lost
standing in the acid rain
A few gather together
leaving the progress behind
preferring to live in simplicity
returning to an earlier time
Encroachment continues
the few begin to fight
others join them
seeing the light
In the forest
a bird flies above
singing to all those around
the Earth still has love

So, true and painful. We writers need to shout this stuff from the rooftops. Maybe our words, our pleas can make changes happen.
I agree. So much of our environment is lost each year to an idea of progress. Perhaps one day changes will occur. Have a wonderful day!
I hope so and soon before its all gone. You too!
A great use of the image and the prompt words to make such an important (and poetic) point. Well done!
Thank you. Have a wonderful day!
