Debonair: A Family Reunion

Arriving at the reunion

debonair as can be

he parks his bicycle

next to the sycamore tree

 

Sitting at a table

tales begin to flow

family surrounds him

his eyes begin to glow

 

History of the area

how the town began

tales of heroics

how a man ran

 

Tales of love

how each couple met

families speculated marriage

some had a bet

 

Lunch is served

other tales are told

each one getting taller

as the day grows old

 

Reunion over

the debonair man leaves

smiles on all faces

to family stories they cleave

Nefarious: Ducks on a Park Picnic

Walking through the park

picnics all around

nefarious activities being planned

determined ducks abound

 

Strutting around

distracting the crowd

putting on a show

quacking extremely loud

 

There is a commotion

duck jumping on a table

food flying everywhere

ducklings gathering samples where able

 

Flying from table to table

bread scattered on the ground

geese join the fun

bounty for all wildlife around

 

Chased by the people

nefarious plans accomplished

feast had by all

tales told of the outlandish

 

Sun is setting 

return to the nest

the ducks are full

time for a rest

Meandering in the park

enjoying the day

walking along the path

observing life along the way

 

Taking time to speak to people

all have a story to tell

listening carefully

spreading a smile as well

 

There is new life

ducks, turtles, and geese

amazing small wonders

playfulness has increased

 

The community comes together

continuing to bond

sharing food and laughter

gathering by the pond

 

Meditation over

sweet aromas in the air

time to give thanks

for the blessings everywhere

Happy Thanksgiving to all! Thank you for sharing your world. I wish all of you a Thanksgiving filled with wonderful health, joy, happiness, peace, and love.

A Thanksgiving picnic

blessings are abound

food and family in abundance

there is a gremlin around

 

A cool breeze is blowing

family football in the air

morsels of food disappearing

the pecan bowl is bare

 

Leaves are blowing

the gremlin continues his haul

food that is dropped and unwatched

he is having a ball

 

Truly grateful

for this unintentional act of caring

his treasure is buried

giving thanks for the sharing

 

Joy and laughter

the gremlins day is complete

time to take a Thanksgiving nap

everything is tidy and neat

 

Thankful to God

for all the simple things

grateful for love, joy, and happiness

each new day brings

An Athletic Deer

deer in colorado park

Small brown deer

wandering through the park

so athletic

after running in the dark

 

He stops for a moment

searching for a friendly hand

spotting  dropped food

scattered throughout the land

 

Showing much grace

while wiggling his ears

swishing of the tail

as he draws near

 

Photographs are taken

by quiet observers unseen

making his way to the table

a feast to be gleaned

 

Eating a small morsel

a child begins to cry

startled and running

he leaps into the sky

 

Over the fence

beautiful form in his jump

leaping to safety

not even a thump

Magnetic Souls Traveling Through Time

A magnetic picnic gathering 

your soul called to me

blue eyes gazing into the sun

a wonderful sight to see

 

Recognition from another life

your soul called to me

God sent us to a picnic

this meeting was meant to be

 

Separated by space and time

we wandered through many lives

waiting for our souls to reunite

our time has finally arrived

 

Calling again our souls

for the two to rejoin into one

loving one another

the best life is yet to come

 

Joining in marriage

the time has come again

 a common purpose to entertain

serving God as ordained

 

Thankful to God

our souls rejoice

together for all eternity

loving in one voice

More Than a Meal

blueberry cobbler may 14

 

The old couple excitedly 

dresses in their finest this day

there is a delivery

that is on the way

 

They set the table

add two extra spaces

using the fine dishes

at these two places

 

It is close to noon

when the doorbell rings

they are so happy

the elderly man begins to sing

 

He opens the door and

with two young people in sight

carrying a hot meal

made just right

 

He welcomes them in

they sit at the table

sharing a hot homemade meal

made out of household staples

 

These people share a meal

one day each week

loneliness is cured

the deliverance they seek

Saturday Football

picnic lunch petrified forest april 14

A crisp fall morning

there is football in the air

barbecue on the table

sweet spicy aromas with a flair

 

The fans are waiting

for the game to begin

teams with a rivalry

each expecting to win

 

The stadium is full

the game begins with a flair

cheering this afternoon

a goal line ball in the air

 

It is half time

the band begins to play

marching in formation

a grand stand this day

 

Second half begins

more touchdowns to be found

cheering crowds stand up

excitement on the ground

 

The game is over

the trash talk begins

fans having fun

only one team can win

Summer River Day

Morning sun rises

above the mountain top

opportunities for adventure

no time to stop

 

Time to be dormant

on a winter day

it’s summer now

time to play

 

A new adventure

by the river edge

there is a rope 

swinging over the ledge

 

Splashing in the water

laughter all around

the rope swings continuously

jumping without bounds

 

On to the canoe

down the river rapids

such a thrill

never a habit

 

The day continues

picnic in the sun

eating wonderful food

this day is fun

 

The sun is setting

time to be sleeping again

filled with dreams

till the next adventure begins

Blueberry cobbler

an edible treat

filled with love

ready to eat

 

Love in food

shown in many ways

veggies or dessert

appear each day

 

Sitting at the table

sharing life’s news

loving one another

even with different views

 

Food binds us together

cooked from the heart

sharing new recipes

some are an art

 

Crossing generations

each dish a story to tell

learning about each other

tasting oh so well

 

Meeting new friends

diversity crosses the plates

enjoying each other

eating until late

 

Blueberry cobbler

topped with ice cream

sharing with friends

such a wonderful scene
