Pruning the garden
speculating on the yield
a young child follows me
jumping on his heels
The cucumber vines tickle him
as he laughs with delight
picking the fruit
sparkling in the light
Taking in the harvest
putting cucumbers in the brine
a few weeks will pass
then the taste of a fine wine
Giving him a pickle
he scurries out the door
shouting to me
I’ll be back for more
The wonders of childhood
small things are a gift
innocence filled with joy
gives me a lift

So lovely Debbie
Thank you. I loved running through my grandparent’s garden as a child. Always loved the bounty of nature. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
You’re most welcome
How lovely Debbie. If only a child’s world lasted forever. Simple pleasures. Thanks for joining in.
