Fire burst from the chasm

lava burst in the air

smoke darkened the sky

death created a snare

Capturing some

as others broke free

a nightmare without end

morning difficult to see

Lava meets the water

fire determined to live

extreme heat as a weapon

neither element willing to give

Battle is over

death throughout the land

does life still exist

to make a stand

Out of the chaos

there is a small bloom

a seed spreading new life

hope replaces doom

Smoke clears

rays of sun appear

a rainbow in the sky

clouds disappear

The volcano sleeps

life flourishes in the wind

there are silent rumbles

a reminder the cycle never ends
