The animal kingdom

an endless string of wonder

majestic and beautiful

sounds of life’s thunder

The lion

symbol of the king

loud roar commands attention

majesty he brings

Then there is the cat

king of the household

feral or domestic

ultimate power he holds

Out in the forest

there is a howl

the wolf is a mighty hunter

with a distinctive growl

Then there is the dog

the faithful companion and gift

playful and loving

happy to exist

Smaller wildlife

squirrel and birds

bring much happiness

scurrying and singing to be heard

I love them all

thankful to be part of the band

harmonizing together

living fully in the land
