Light in a New Year

Riding down the road

a childhood town

decay in the land

death surrounds

Feeling nostalgic

taken back to a time

when the land was free

growing in the mind

Abundance in many forms

a smile on each face

the sun shone through spirits

imagination to embrace

Chaos came

as darkness took over the land

spirits clung to depression

music moved on with the band

Within the heart

there is a place of hope

challenging the depression

on a small scope

Spirits with light

showing a new way

lifting up desperate souls

into the rays of a new day

The calendar turns

it’s a Happy New Year

there is light in the darkness

overcoming all fear

  1. Deep poem, not sure if I caught it right.
Starts off from a child’s perspective. Chaos referring to growing up and realizing everything is not always roses. However you can always try again for positive change as the calendar changes.
    Happy New Year Debbie

    • Thank you. I agree. The new year is always fresh. There have been so many tough times in the last few years but there has also been so much growth and an expansion of light. I love the photographs that you post. Thanks for sharing. The scenery is magical and holds such beauty in the changes in the seasons in the desert. Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful day!
